Let's Improve Our Pronunciation : Salute (Little Mix)

Hello, dear learners!
Today we'll listen to one more   interesting song !
As I told you before, summer is the best time to work on your vocabulary and pronunciation through singing songs.

The song I'd like us to practise now has been ranked #6 this week in The Top 10 UK Singles Chart. It is Salute (Little Mix)

As for me , this song may be used as a tongue-twister for working on clearness and quickness of your pronunciation, increasing the speed of your speech, and enjoying studying English, because the tune is really catchy and lively.

What is more, there are some useful words you should memorise and use :

Vocabulary:

Killer heels- are a type of shoe that one could kill with -- physically, mentally and emotionally. they are described as heels that usually have at least a 4 inch stiletto (very thin heel, only recommended for experienced professionals) and are 'high fashion' (expen$ive). The shoe must be ridiculously sexy, stunning and an instant eye-catcher.

Sneakers - (mainly American informal)   trainers that you wear for playing sports.

Pumps - [usually plural] British a shoe made of strong cloth, worn by children for doing sports at school

Synonyms/ Antonyms

In the context of this song we have this list of synonyms:  women, ladies, divas, queens, pretty things. and the word   is the antonym to this list.
Phrasal verbs

move on - to start to continue with your life after you have dealt successfully with a bad experience

move up - to go to a better job, higher level

carry on  - to continue doing something

All in all,  let's sing, dance and learn!

Refrain x2
Ladies all across the world
Listen up
We're looking for recruits
If you're with with me
Let me see your hands
Stand up and salute

If you're with me
Women

Let me hear you say

Attention! Salute
Attention!
Representing all the women

Warriors, your country needs
You
If you're ready, ladies
Better keep steady
Ready, aim
Shoot

Don't need ammunition
On a mission
Now we hit you with the truth

Divas
Queens
We don't need no money

  1. Hi Irina,
    Some suggestions:
    1) Instead of saying: "we'll listen to one more song interesting...", one should say: "we'll listen to one more interesting song..."
    2) Instead of saying: "The song I'd like we to practise...", one should say: "The song I'd like us to practise..."
    3) In the sentence: "the tune is really catching", "catching" means "infectious" or "contagious".
It is preferable to use "catchy" which means "pleasing and easily remembered"
    (compare: http://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/english/catching
    vs.: http://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/english/catchy)

    Best Regards,

  2. Learning Vocabulary or the English Language is not that easy to learn.
One needs to do regular practice to master the language or simply listen or try to communicate to improve the lexical strength of oneself. It is equally possible with www,vocabmonk.com.
