Adverbs

Hello,dear learners!
It's time to talk about adverbs . What are adverbs? These are the words which help us to describe when ( yesterday, tomorrow, ), where (here, there, near), how ( often, softly, easily) etc. something happens, happened or will happen.

Today we'll study the rules of using adverbs in English.





Adverbs usually go after verbs but before adjectives, other adverbs and participles.
Her little daughter sings wonderfully!
The novel is very interesting.
He lives so far from here .


Adverbs of manner go before the main verb, but after the auxiliary verb or at the end of sentences.

He slowly opened his eyes.
She was sadly sitting in the corner of the room.
Now I see it clearly.

Adverbs of degree go before adjectives,adverbs and main verbs, but after auxiliary verbs .
The task was really difficult.
He got up too late.
She was absolutely right!

Adverbs of frequency go after auxiliary verbs and to be, but before main verbs.
 He is often late.
He often goes abroad.

Adverbs of place and time usually go at the end od the sentence.
The sport center is over there.
Let's go to the cinema tomorrow!


Note!
The adverbs can be put at the beginning of the sentences if the speaker wants to emphasise them.
Yesterday we went to the amazing party!

When there are some adverbs in the  same sentence , they should be used  in this order:
manner-place-time.
Ann sang well  at the concert yesterday.
If there is a verb of movement in the sentence (go, arrive,leave),the adverbs should be used in such order:
place-manner-time
 Mr. Black  arrived to the airport  in time yesterday.
